Voltrix
$2500
Vege tanned leather + hand set studs
38" x 47"
2018
Voltrix is an expression of raw feminine force — sharp, instinctive, and unapologetically loud. Built from chrome studs hand set into vegetable-tanned leather that has been hand dyed and airbrushed, the work transforms a scream into surface, texture, and tension.
The image carries the energy of a primal release: mouth open, teeth exposed, voice pushed beyond restraint. It is not delicate femininity. It is power with bite. Defiance made physical. A punk rock refusal to be softened, contained, or made polite.
Up close, the piece becomes almost confrontational. The polished studs rise from the leather like armor, each one catching the light with a hard metallic glare. Their varying scale creates a restless undulation across the surface, pulling the viewer into the physicality of the work — the grain of the leather, the pressure of the hand-set metal, the violence and precision of repetition.
From a distance, the individual studs dissolve into a halftone image. The form becomes clearer, louder, more graphic. What was once material becomes voice. What was once texture becomes attitude.
By fusing the organic, skin-like quality of leather with the cold aggression of metal, Voltrix sits between sensuality and threat, craft and rebellion, beauty and rupture. It captures a feminine energy that is not passive, but electric — a scream, a snarl, a surge of power held permanently in place.
